Known locally as Holi, the Festival of Colours is a Hindu spring festival in which people throw brightly coloured powder and dyes at each other. It is celebrated in India, Nepal, and Guyana, and it religiously seen as a way of warding off the sicknesses that normally come with the season. There are also medicinal advantages to the festival, because most of the powders are made with herbs that are known to cure and prevent illnesses.
